Six Sigma – The Benefits of A Business Impact Analysis

by admin

Knowing what you will do to ensure normal business operations continue in the face of a monumental disaster is a very important part of your company’s continuing success. Creating a business impact analysis, or a BIA as it is often called, will provide you with what you need to make that happen. Creating such a plan is important and must receive proper attention. There are many benefits to having a plan of action in place.

One of the most important benefits of a BIA is discovering a way is normal business operations will not have to cease. Depending on the type and severity of the disaster that occurs, they may not even need to be interrupted.

When you really stop to think about it, there are many disasters that can occur, many of which can destroy important data and information. You need this business information, so it is crucial to back it up on a regular basis. This is a very important part of any survival plan. The more places you have that information available to you, the easier it will be to recover it should this ever become necessary. Senior management will also have a clear understanding of overall business operations and know what to do when disasters occur. They will know where to find the data and information that has been damaged and how to replace it.

Another great benefit of a Six Sigma business impact analysis is that it provides continuity. When a company can suffer a disaster and come right back from it still profitable and running smoothly, that company will rise above many others who do not have a plan in place. It’s all about taking the time to understand just how a disaster could truly impact your business. Once you have a clear understanding of this you will be able to formulate a plan that will weigh the possibilities against the solutions and help you take the necessary steps to save the business before any disaster even occurs.
